My wife and I started this natural skin care and soap business formally in 2023), as we had been making some products, especially soap, as a hobby, and supplying friends and family with the products.

I had been using sandalwood soap during my teens and young adult life, until the soap was discontinued and no longer appeared on the supermarket shelves. I was therefore reduced to buying the normal soap for a number of years, until I came across a supplier of natural skincare products, including soap, at an outdoor market in Durban. Fortunately, sandalwood was available, but at a price which was a great deal more expensive since my last purchase all those years ago. Obviously I bought a couple of bars from the young lady, having figured inflation must have had an impact on the pricing.

We decided to consult Mr Google to research the making of natural soaps, specifically sandalwood, as a hobby. As with all new experiences, there was a considerable amount of trepidation in our first attempt, but we had managed to choose a site with a presenter who had the knowledge and could impart that knowledge and skills in a manner that was easily understood and assimilated, which resulted in a well made first soap bar.

With a series of basic bars successfully manufactured, we felt it was time to extend our experience in soapmaking by venturing into more advanced features, which we consequently also attempted and managed to conquer.

Subsequently we decided to branch out into making natural cosmetics, such as creams and lotions. Again, we “consulted” Google, and, with some difficulty, we managed to produce a few bottles of hand and body lotion as well as some jars of moisturising cream, which we tried ourselves, and members of our families assisted us in testing the products. As these proved fairly successful, we decided to formalise the knowledge we had gleaned from the internet, which resulted in me obtaining a diploma in natural skincare from the School of Natural Skincare, based in London.

Armed with the newly acquired scientific based knowledge, we expanded the cosmetic range to include additional creams, serums and cleansers as a springboard to attain greater heights. With these products we are now in a position to offer our clients a full natural skincare routine.

Unfortunately, my dear wife will not be able to share the journey further with us, as she passed on earlier this year.
